This show combines the homespun appeal of a favorite childhood toy with high-art portrait photograph, featuring portraits reminiscent of the serious and dignified portraiture adopted by photographers decades ago: eyes to the camera, lit from the front, and cropped at the shoulders. The resulting photographs express remarkably humanlike personalities.
