| Fall 2009 CU GOLD Facilitators
Our volunteer staff of facilitators is a wonderful group of individuals committed to student development and leadership. All facilitators come from different backgrounds and bring a rich mixture of perspectives, information, leadership and facilitation experience. We are grateful to each of them for their volunteered time and dedication to the the students of the CU GOLD CLP.

Erin Westmoreland-King- CLP facilitator

Erin Westmoreland-King is the Coordinator for Activities and Student Involvement in the University Memorial Student Programs Office. Among other responsibilities in the UMC, Erin serves as the co-adviser for the Senior Class Council. Erin is originally from the Denver area and a is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder where she earned her BA in History. She has been working at CU since April 2007. When Erin is not working she enjoys camping, traveling, reading and spending quality time with her family, friends and dog. |
Megan Bell- CU GOLD Advisor, CLP and ALP factilitator

Megan is currently the Assistant Director of the UMC for the Student Programs Office and the advisor for CU GOLD. She also serves as the advisor for Program Council. Prior to coming to CU, Megan was the Assistant Director of Student Activities at Whittier College in Los Angeles. She has also worked in Residence Life at the University of California-Riverside and Washington State University. Megan received her BA in English/Women’s Studies at the University of Northern Colorado in 2000 and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration and Student Affairs from Washington State University in 2002. Megan enjoys reading, traveling, dancing, and spending time with her husband and her kitten. |
Christopher Bell- CLP facilitator

Christopher Bell earned his Ph.D. from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at CU Boulder. He holds degrees in Social Science from the University of Northern Colorado, and in Television, Film, and New Media Production from San Diego State University. His area of specialization is heroism theory and "the culture of celebrity." He appears regularly on the television series, "Dancing With the Stars," has written a series of books entitled, "Why We Should All Hate Britney Spears," (and he lies an awful lot). |
Jim Lopresti- CLP facilitator

James LoPresti is currently a Senior Instructor in the Leeds School of Business at CU Boulder where he teaches courses in leadership and management. Prior to CU, Jim was a Senior Program Manager in Support Services for Sun Microsystems in Broomfield, CO for 6 years. Prior to Sun, Jim worked as a Distance Learning Manager in education and training for Lucent Technologies. Other lives also include owner of a bed and breakfast in Asheville, NC, Aviation Administrator for The Port Authority of New York/New Jersey in the World Trade Center, and City Manager Newark (New Jersey) for People Express Airlines.
Jim holds a doctorate in 19th century American literature and co-authored a grammar book for college freshman for the University of Denver. He also teaches various literature courses, including Thoreau, Shakespeare, Sherlock Holmes, and the poetry of Francesco Petrarca at The University of Denver.
Jim has a book on Henry David Thoreau and the 9-5 world of work entitled, "Minding Our Own Business," coming soon.

Dana Ziemba- Student Coordinator and CLP facilitator

Dana Ziemba is the new Student Coordinator for CU GOLD. She is a senior majoring in Geography and elementary education. After school she hopes to spend some time traveling and experiencing the world before she has to settle down into a real life job. Dana loves the outdoors and has spent 9 years attending and working at a YMCA in southern Colorado. She loves hiking, backpacking and canoeing; but most of all she loves silly camp games! |
Paul Osincup- CLP facilitator

Paul Osincup has over 8 years of experience working with student leaders in his various roles at the University of Northern Colorado, University of California Riverside, Front Range Community College, and Colorado State University where he currently works in Judicial Affairs. Paul also earned a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education and Student Affairs Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado. But, it is his work as a professional stand-up comic that has ignited his curiosity about the link between humor and leadership. |

Anna Damm-CLP Student Director

Anna is a Sophomore at CU and grew up in a small town outside of Philadelphia. She was drawn to CU on account of its gorgeous scenery, student population, and healthy/active lifestyle. She is currently both a pre-Communication and pre-Journalism major, and hopes to be accepted into the Journalism School in the future. Her dream career at this point would be working for a magazine in New York City. Outside of school Anna loves running, sports/exercise in general, and going out with friends.

Gardiner Tucker- ALP facilitator

Gardiner “Tuck” Tucker is the Assistant Dean of Students at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Dr. Tucker has extensive background and experiences in higher education, including student development, residence life and housing, leadership, teaching, and organizational development, as well as most recently serving as the interim Assistant Dean of Students at the University. Before his interim role, Tuck was Director of Residence Life at CU, and managed a unit of 35 professional staff, approximately 300 student staff, and a $6.2 million budget. Prior to his work at CU Boulder, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Higher Education and Student Affairs Leadership doctoral program at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC), worked as an organizational consultant, and was Associate Director of Residence Life at UNC. Dr. Tucker received his doctorate in College Student Personnel Administration from the University of Maryland, his Master’s in Counseling and Human Development from St. Lawrence University, and has twenty five years of experience in higher education. |
Katie Bolger- CLP Student Director

Katie is a senior studying Psychology and Elementary education. She just returned from study abroad in Spain. She serves on the CUGOLD Advisory Board and works in the Office of Financial Aid. She also hopes to be a teacher one day.

Colter Ellis- CLP Facilitator

Colter is a graduate student and part-time instructor in the department of sociology here at CU. He moved to Boulder from his home state of Idaho five years ago to complete my PhD. During his time at CU, he has had the opportunity to teach classes in Social Problems and Gender & Society. In his teaching, he focuses on the way race, ethnicity, social class, gender, and sexuality intersect in each of our lives. He is excited to have an opportunity to participate in the CU Gold Leadership Program because it presents an opportunity to interact with CU undergrads outside the classroom setting.

Deb Kulcsar- CLP Facilitator

Director, CU Science Discovery Summer Wilderness Camps and Outdoor Classroom Deb has worked in the field of outdoor adventure education for over 25 years. Her passions include connecting youth with the natural world through wilderness experiences and developing educational programs for both youth and adults. From her early days working with inner city Cleveland Ohio students to now, Deb has amassed broad experience in developing and implementing unique educational programs blending science content, wilderness adventure and community. Deb’s teaching experience spans kindergarten science through master’s level teacher education, with the bulk of her work at the upper elementary and middle school level. Deb helped start the CU Science Discovery Wilderness Camp Program in 1989. The program has flourished for 20 years. For the past 10 years Deb has nurtured the development of the CU Science Discovery Outdoor Classroom, a school year field science program for Boulder area and metro-Denver students. In addition, Deb is a lead ropes course facilitator at West Pines Training Center in Wheat Ridge where she continues her learning journey as a result of her work with corporate, community and international clients.

Mallory is a recent Graduate of CU with a BA in International Affairs and History, she just finished student teaching with a 6th grade Social Studies class in Boulder and is looking forward to attending graduate school this fall to get her Masters in Higher Education. Mallory was in the first CLP class and loves this program!!

John Henderson thoroughly enjoys working with undergraduate students to develop leadership skills for the 21st Century. After completing his undergraduate degree in Political Science at the University of California, Davis, John served in the United States Peace Corps (Ecuador '92-'94) in forestry and agriculture extension work. He has also taught social studies and Language Arts at high schools in Tohatchi, NM and Santa Monica, CA. For the past 9 years, John has been at CU Boulder, first completing his Doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Cultural Studies and more recently, working in the Office of Greek Life and now as the Assistant Director of Residence Life. |

Cori Shaff- CLP facilitator

Cori Shaff has been a career counselor and the outreach specialist for Career Services since December 2007. In her position she works with other career counselors and the campus community to create career-related programs for CU students. She also meets one-on-one with students and provides assistance with career planning, resume & cover letter writing, job search strategies, and other career topics. After graduating from CU with a degree in Communication, she spent 2 years working at a small college in Western Idaho. During this experience, her passion for working with college students was confirmed and she moved back to Colorado to attend graduate school. In May 2007 she completed her master's degree in Career Counseling from CSU. She enjoys cooking, reading, learning about Germany, spending time with friends, and going to the Opera.

Sarina Steinbarth- CLP and ALP facilitator

Sarina is very excited to become a part of CU Gold this semester by joining the CLP Facilitator Team. Born in San Diego, California, Sarina grew up on a ship sailing around the world with college students as her parents were employees of the Semester at Sea program. After attending three years of high school in Northern California she moved to Croatia to volunteer with an NGO helping displaced Bosnian children, then traveled to the Caribbean to work as a Youth Coordinator for World Explorer Cruises before going to college at CSU Long Beach in Southern California. There she majored in International Studies and enjoyed playing volleyball, competing on the Women's Crew team, being a member of the Dance Department, and participating in three study abroad programs. After college she had the opportunity to backpack across South America for several months before enrolling in graduate school at Yale University where she studied International Relations and Environmental Policy. She pursued doctoral studies in U.S. History at UW-Madison for a few years before deciding that, despite her love of teaching, her passions lay more in Student Leadership and Development than in academia. Sarina has been living in Boulder for one year now and adores her new town and new position as the Coordinator of Cultural Programs at CU-Boulder. In her spare time she enjoys dancing, traveling, exploring the outdoors with her boyfriend, Craig, and helping to raise a yellow lab puppy named "Dallas" for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Foundation.

Alex is in his senior year at CU studying English Literature and Biochemistry. After his undergrad he plans on attending medical school to pursue a career in medicine, but hopes to teach for a little bit before that. In the mean time he is involved with CU Gold and several other student groups on campus. |
