DSCC: Art Show and Exhibit Space

The DSCC hosts two exhibit spaces in the UMC building: room 457 and the ReVision Art Space.  Student organizations and groups may propose to curate shows that align with the DSCC’s purpose.

The ReVision Art Space seeks to raise the university community's awareness of contemporary and historical equity issues by displaying art work which reflects society's strive toward social justice goals. The gallery partners only with CU student groups to ensure that student views are represented. The space is cosponsored by the UMC Art Gallery and the Dennis Small Cultural Center.

Location: second floor of the UMC, in the corridor just south of the reception desk

CU student groups are welcome to submit proposals by preparing responses to the following questions and including samples of art work:

1. Describe the theme of the exhibition and how it addresses social justice issues and goals

2. Describe why your art exhibition would be appropriate for this space

3. Describe what you hope to accomplish with your art exhibition

4. List any preferred dates for your exhibition (exhibits are typically semester-long)

5. Include images of proposed artwork and a description of artistic medium

6. Include a list of participating student and campus groups

7. Outline any additional programming that you would like to do to complement the exhibit

All accepted artwork must be mounted on lightweight foam core and be ready to hang without the use of nails.

Proposing group is responsible for writing and making labels and a show statement.

Send questions and submittals electronically to: dscc@colorado.edu

Security is not available in the space.  The DSCC/UMC is not responsible for damage, loss or theft.

The Dennis Small Cultural Center exists to serve underrepresented student groups on the CU- Boulder campus by providing programmatic support and a safe space for cultural expression and community gatherings.  The facility is committed to offering programs and resources that contribute to the intellectual, cultural, social, ethical, and personal growth of all students.  The DSCC enhances the University Memorial Center's mission as a multicultural center for the CU-Boulder campus.
