DSCC: Programs and Events

 

The DSCC seeks to engage the campus community in diversity through dynamic programs, events, entertainment, and activities that encourage participants to cross boundaries of cultural difference. The Center fosters an atmosphere of learning and inclusiveness, emphasizing cross-cultural appreciation and commitment to social justice.  Our programs illustrate our dedication to the pursuit of education in an environment that values multiculturalism as essential element of a high quality education and healthy campus community.

Events

The DSCC hosts film screenings, dance lessons, cooking classes, workshops, community gatherings, and much more! If you would like to be on the DSCC mailing list and receive weekly event announcements, please email dscc@colorado.edu and indicate if you are a CU student, faculty/staff, or community member.  We will add you to the list.

Bollywood Dance Class !

Join the Dennis Small Cultural Center as we host a Bollywood dance class in UMC 457 on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 5:30pm. Bollywood is the foundation of Hindi language films, such as the recent blockbuster “Slumdog Millionaire”. Come and learn to dance like the Bollywood stars!

Film Screening:

"Mission Against Terror"

In partnership with the Center for the Study of Race & Ethnicity, the Dennis Small Cultural Center is screening "Mission Against Terror", a film based on the unjust imprisonment of 5 cubans by the U.S. government for protecting their homeland from attacks by Miami-based terrorists.

Dennis Small Lending Library

The DSCC has a small collection of multicultural literature that is available to CU Students, Faculty, Staff to borrow.  To browse our collection, stop by our Center or click here for our titles.

 If you have a valid Buff One card and would like to check out a book, stop by the DSCC or email DSCC@colorado.edu.  

Do you have used books that you’re interested in contributing to our collection? Email us at DSCC@colorado.edu or drop books by the UMC 2nd Floor Reception desk, attn: DSCC. Any books that we’re unable to use will be passed on during literacy drives on campus. Thank you!
