2008-2009 Student Advisory Board

   CU GOLD is run by a volunteer base of students who sit on the CU GOLD Advisory Board. The Advisory Board is instrumental in implementing and planning the workshop series and providing direction for all aspects of the CU GOLD Program. Feel free to stop by our office to meet the board!

Katie Bolger :

CLP Director
Major: Psychology/Elementary Education
Goals: I went to study abroad in Spain to learn about the Spanish people and culture.  I want to join the Peace Corps,and make a difference through teaching as a kindergarten  teacher.
Hobbies: Volleyball, soccer, reading, learning Spanish
Leadership role model: Oprah & Jonathan Kozol

Dana Ziemba :

Co-Student Coordinator

Major: Geography and an elementary education license

Goals: I am working toward my elementary teaching license, and I hope to teach 5th or 6th grade in a small town near the mountains. After graduation, I hope to be able to travel before I go out into the real world.
Hobbies: I love the outdoors. For the past 5 summers I have worked at a YMCA resident camp in Southern Colorado, as well as a privately owned camp in California. I also like to go hiking, rafting, canoeing and backpacking. Last summer I did a 20 mile loop on the Pacific Coast Trail and Tahoe Rim Trail in California.
Leadership role model: I consider my parents great role models.



 

Patrick Shortall :

Sergeant at Arms
Major: Advertising/Business Marketing

Goals: Advertising Internship for the summer and to live in Boulder, good grades, and a broad leadership role either in the Interfraternity Council or CU.
Hobbies: Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Hockey, Hiking, Running, Soccer, Volleyball, beginning guitar, advertising
Leadership role model: Barack Obama

 

Megan Bell (Howe) :

CU GOLD Advisor
Major: English and Women’s Studies , received MA in Educational Administration, 2000 (University of Northern Colorado), 2002 (Washington State University)

Goals: Professor in Educational Administration
Hobbies: Reading, traveling, dancing, going out to eat, soccer, and volleyball
Leadership role models: Ghandi, Oprah, Gloria Steinem, Hillary Clinton, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Barack and Michelle Obama.

Alex Rowan :

ALP Director

Major: English / Pre-med
Goals: Medical School  
Hobbies: Reading, Writing, Painting
Leadership role model: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

 

Anastasia Roloff :

Events Chair

Major: Economics and Mathematics

Goals: Enjoying my undergrad, going off to grad school for survey methodology or agricultural economic or agribusiness.  For the time being, I just want to enjoy life.
Hobbies: I'm a member of Delta Delta Delta and the CU GOLD Advisory Board. I love to read, and do anything with my friends from movies to billiards to just chilling.
Leadership role model: Fernando Henrique Cardoso.  He was the president of Brazil in the nineties and created a currency that improved the super-inflation that afflicted the country. His passion for democracy and his beliefs are inspiring.

Mark Moskowitz :

Community Service Chair

Major: Political Science
Goals: To graduate, and then I want to work in Higher Education in Student Affairs because I love to interact and work with students.  I would also like to travel the world, but first I need to score a big job.  I also want to learn how to cook more this year.
Hobbies: Racquetball, squash, people watching, and golf
Leadership role model: My parents

Alyssa Willet :

Co-Student Coordinator

Major: Women and Gender Studies, Leadership Certificate with INVST Community Studies

Goals:I will be graduating in May 2010 and am applying to graduate school for programs with a focus on Organizational Leadership. I hope to travel and learn as much as I can each day!
Hobbies: Most recently, knitting! Backpacking, volunteering with Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence, learning new things, being spontaneous and spending time with friends.
Leadership role model: My mom, bell hooks.

Susanna Wang :

Marketing Assistant

Major: International Affairs and Business
Goals: :I want to study abroad in Spain and China, make a difference in the lives of impoverished citizens around the world, have a street named after me, and write a best-seller.
Hobbies: I love music (singing and piano), art, interior-design, dance, reading literature, and watching movies
Leadership role model: My father, who was the first in his little village in China to go to college, and Nelson Mandela.

Kate Adams :

Events Chair

Major: Linguistics
Goals: To see a Kiwi bird in person, to make more goals for myself.
Hobbies: Reading, scrapbooking, and movies
Leadership role model: Everyone who makes a difference anonymously

 

Anna Damm :

CLP Director

Major: PreJournalism and PreCommunication
Goals: Become a Journalism major within the next year, hopefully work for a magazine one day. RUN A MARATHON!!!! Be happy :)
Hobbies: Running, getting better at skiing
Leadership role model: Anyone who is a friend to those they are leading and acts in a non-intimidating manor. Also someone who is driven to accomplish not only their personal goals, but strives to help others achieve their own as well.

 

Colleen Kintzley :

Student Group Liaison

Major: History/Pre-med
Goals: To join the Peace corps and eventually become a pediatrician
Hobbies: Running, hiking, hunting, traveling, and hanging out with my Kappa girls
Leadership role model: Gandhi

Goals: To become a licensed architect, travel the world, be a committed leader in what I am passionate about and to create positive change in my own life and the lives of others
Hobbies: Hiking, Camping, Skiing, Snowboarding, Mountain-biking, Running, Friends, Art, Travel

Chris Selcer :

Marketing

Major: International Affairs and Psychology
Goals: Attend law school and become an attorney
Hobbies: Fun outside or inside activities
Leadership role model: My leadership role model is the man or woman who is influential and confident, yet not arrogant. One in which people want to follow and be a part of their team and support the vision of that individual. My role model is the type of individual that accomplishes extraordinary results by their ability to share their vision, leads by actively being involved (vs sitting on the sidelines) and recognizes the team for their achievements. ... My leadership role model is someone who understands the importance of having fun while getting the job done!
