2. Expand Your Brand – Online and in Real-Time
Career Services Peer Career Advisors
Learn from your CU Peer Career Advisors about the benefits of leveraging your social media outlets, personal interests, and networking skills to land the job of your dreams. Student employees of Career Services will teach you how to successfully brand yourself, online and in real-time, enabling you to access networks of potential employers. This job market is tough – let your Peer Career Advisors help you maximize your potential.
3. What’s at Your Core? Understanding the Relationship between Values and Leadership Development
Kim Kushner and Larkin Poynton – Residence Hall Association
Your “core” isn’t just something you exercise at the gym. It’s your values system—how you define who you are, how you act, and how you lead others. Through participating in interactive activities that explore the relationship between values and leadership development, you will walk away from this session able to define your own set of core values, along with understanding how these values fit into you role as a CU student.

1. Using Your Authentic Self to Positively Impact Your Community
Chris Mulvaney and Margaret Grondorf – BeadforLife
From the aspect of the “authentic self,” participants will use the development model of BeadforLife to refine their own dreams and goals to bring back to their world at large. Activities will include the following: identifying key issues and concepts surrounding extreme poverty, identifying poverty or areas of need in your immediate communities, and sustainable solutions to positively impact your social circles.
2. Redefining the New American Radical
Jake Jeronimus
The New American Radical is neither red nor blue, but rather a mixture of the two. Discover how following your own ideal can be blended with others in a safe and secure setting. Learn that the New American Radical accepts being a leader and a follower and is able to eliminate arrogance to make room for personal growth.

Block 3:
1. Something in The Air: Becoming Aware of interrupting and Unfair Expectations
Andrea Iglesias and Glenda Russell – Counseling and Psychological Services
This workshop will present a model that allows us to pinpoint of the barriers to academic comfort and success that many students experience, those who have been traditionally underrepresented in universities. We will work on concrete ways to overcome these barriers from both the perspective of being a member of a target group and from the perspective of an ally.
2. The Leadership Box: What Kind of Leader are You?
Vicky Vanderwerf and Josh Newsom – Residence Hall Association
Ever feel like you’ve been placed in a box or are perceived as a specific kind of leader? Join us for this session about the “leadership box” where you will learn about your leadership style and how to effectively work in a group with other leaders. You will discover your strengths as a leader and leave this session being able to step out of the box!
4. Turning a Student Group into a Student Organization
Jillian Werner and Scott Mahlberg – GlobeMed
Are you a student leader? If so, you probably know that managing a group of college students can be hard! This session will show you how to create and foster a community of students who can work together efficiently. By sharing GlobeMed at CU Boulders mission and vision, member selection criteria, and chapter culture participants will be equipped with best practices on how to become more effective and inspirational student leaders.
Block 4:
1. Help! Your Planet Needs You!
Eric Niemann, Sue McCullough, Anne Doyle, Joy Eckstine – IBM, Foothills United Way, Boulder Outreach for Homeless Overflow, and the Boulder Bridge House
This session will provide a situational overview of the world’s challenges. The country seems to be a collective funk that is difficult to overcome. Inner growth can be stimulated by helping those who are less fortunate. Helping others provides people with a tangible sense of reward and fulfillment. This session will consist of a panel of representatives from IBM, the Foothills United Way, Boulder Outreach for Homeless Overflow (BOHO) and the Boulder Bridge House.

Do you know how a mission, a vision, and goals as part of strategic planning can help your group organize itself towards becoming more successful and productive? Strategic planning can create this efficiency and success through the structure, leadership skills, and development techniques it teaches. Each of these will work to reinforce the mission and vision of your organization, ensuring that it reaches its goals and attains the position in the community it had been striving towards.
