First Look at Copacabana
“As I stepped off the bus and arrived in the small town of Copacabana in Bolivia, I spotted this girl on the side of the road preparing for the parade that celebrated the town’s anniversary. I found myself in Bolivia through a study abroad program and the penetrating gaze of this girl caught my eye. This young girl is part of the hundreds of thousands of rising youth that have the power to create future change in their town and the world. Her eyes say it all. It’s time.” Student Arts Program official selection 2018.
About the Artist
Kaila Olson was born in Yunnan, China, grew up in Denver, and will graduate with a degree in anthropology and certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). She loves traveling the world and capturing moments through the lens of her camera. After graduation, she will be moving to Asia to teach English and travel.
