The UMC Celebrates 60 Years!

Join us from November 4-11 to celebrate the UMC’s 60th Birthday!

As the heart of campus, the UMC is the place to grab a bite to eat, meet friends, study, relax, and more and this weeklong celebration is no exception! 

Be sure to attend our “Celebrating 60 Years” party on Wednesday evening, Roller Skating on Thursday, FAC on Friday, and the annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, November 11!

Daily Specials (Monday, November 4 – Friday, November 8)
•    Decade-themed lunch specials – The Tabor in Alferd Packer Restaurant & Grill
•    Fresh brewed Peet’s drip coffee – only 60 cents for 12oz, Baby Doe’s, 1st floor, 7-9am

Monday, November  4
•    Arrive early for a special I Love Mondays! 2-3pm, Atrium. Free!
•    1950s and 1960s-themed Bowling and Costume Contest in The Connection, 1st floor, 6-11 pm.

Celebrate the ’70s
Tuesday, November  5
•    UMC “Time After Time” exhibit in the Gallery, 2nd floor, 10:30am-3pm. Free!

Celebrate the ’80s
Wednesday, November 6
•    UMC “Time After Time” exhibit in the Gallery, 2nd floor, 10:30am-3pm. Free!
•    “Celebrating 60 Years” – Join us for a reception from 7-9pm as we celebrate the people, services, and facilities of the UMC!  Connect with past and current UMC staff and students, reminisce about favorite memories, learn some unique pieces of UMC history, and enjoy performances from the Buffoons and the Swing Dance Club of CU. Free!
•    1980s Video Game and T-shirt Contest in The Connection,1st floor, 6-11pm.

Celebrate the ’90s
Thursday, November 7
•    UMC “Time After Time” exhibit in the Gallery, 2nd floor, 10:30am-3pm. Free!
•    Roller skating in the Glenn Miller Ballroom, 7-11pm.  Free and open to CU students, staff and faculty with current Buff OneCard ID.

Celebrate the 2000s
Friday, November 8
•    FAC is back!  Friday Afternoon Club was a popular staple of the UMC in the past and this week is a great time to bring it back!  Join us for root beer floats, cake, live music, and an appearance by Chip in the North Dining Room, 3-5pm. Free!

Saturday, November 9
•    “Define the Future” – CU GOLD is hosting its annual student leadership conference. Register to attend!

Sunday, November 10
•    Tough Buff 5K Obstable Course 2013 - Sorry, this event is cancelled.

Monday, November 11
•    Veterans Day Ceremony – The UMC remains the State of Colorado’s official memorial to veterans and we take great pride in this designation.  Our annual ceremony will be held at 11am in the Glenn Miller Ballroom, and this year’s keynote speaker is CU alum and US Navy Rear Admiral Kerry M.
